Wines on a budget

Tonight I opened and drank a bottle of the N.V. (non vintage) Bay Bridge Merlot from Kroger. It was OK. I have had more expensive wines that were about the same, good but not great. The line is from a bulk producer in California like Franzia or Gallo. It is simple wine for a simple dinner. Much like wine I have had all over Italy. Maybe the neighbor down the street made it? Simple light cherry flavors with a taste of alcohol (the alcohol tastes disapears after a half glass). Perfect with pizza, burgers, mac and chesse. If you are expecting a big, round, full mouth merlot shut up. Enjoy it for what it is, not what it is not.
If you have tried any of the Bay Bridge wines tell me what you thank. By the way, the sell for about $3.oo a bottle.
